Algerian Parliament Holds Symposium Entitled "Wounded Gaza" in Support of the Palestinian Cause

The parliamentary groups of both chambers of the Algerian Parliament (the Council of the Nation and the National People's Assembly) organized a solidarity symposium on Monday under the slogan "Wounded Gaza," with the participation of the heads and members of the parliamentary groups, as well as leaders of political parties and organizations.

The symposium was held as a joint initiative between the two chambers to convene an emergency general session, in light of the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and the continuous violations in the Palestinian territories, which are met with international silence and the inaction of some governments.

The aim of the symposium was to coordinate the efforts of Algerian parliament members to provide more support and solidarity with the Palestinian people and to make the voice of their just cause heard in regional and international parliamentary forums.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Saad Arous, the President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, expressed his pride in the positions of Algerian parliamentarians in support of Palestine, stating, "The words of parliamentarians may not be binding, but they preserve the truth from being lost amid false media narratives... Parliamentarians shed light on the facts and call things by their names."

Goudjil pointed out that there is "regret over the cowardly reactions that continue to come from an international community that resorts to impotence, weakness, and humiliation, and in turn, betrays its humanitarian commitments and international laws every day, losing its balance by favoring interests and applying double standards."

The participants reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast position, both government and people, in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people, calling for an immediate and unconditional end to the genocide, the opening of urgent humanitarian corridors to the Gaza Strip, and ensuring accountability for the occupation’s crimes against civilians.
