Hamid Al-Ahmar: An Islamic Parliamentary Delegation to Congress Is Needed to Push for Ending the Genocide in Gaza

Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, emphasized the urgent need to unify Arab, Islamic, and international positions regarding the genocidal war being waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip. He stressed that international silence in the face of these crimes amounts to unacceptable complicity.

Speaking at the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta with broad participation from parliamentary leaders and legislators from Islamic countries, Mr. Hamid said that the Palestinian cause requires a unified and organized effort from Islamic nations—one that goes beyond rhetoric and moves into practical action.

He added, "We cannot stand idly by while the Palestinian people are subjected to the most brutal forms of aggression. Our voices in international forums must be louder and more influential."

Al-Ahmar announced a practical proposal: organizing an Islamic parliamentary delegation from member states of the union to visit the U.S. Congress. The goal would be to deliver a clear message about the position of Islamic parliaments on the genocide in Gaza, remind the United States of the shared interests it has with the Islamic world, and stress that continued U.S. complicity in and unconditional support for Israel's war threatens the strategic relationship between the U.S. and Islamic countries.

He also called for the urgent creation of an effective mechanism to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to work toward international recognition of the Palestinian state, noting that this conference is an opportunity to unify Islamic positions.

He concluded by stressing that the Palestinian cause must remain a top priority for the Islamic Ummah, and that defending the rights of the Palestinian people is a moral and humanitarian duty that cannot be abandoned.
