League Meets with Palestine Group in Moroccan Parliament and Calls for International Action to Hold the Occupation Accountable

A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine visited the Moroccan capital, Rabat, where they met with the thematic group on the Palestinian issue in the Moroccan House of Representatives. They discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the expected role of parliaments in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.

The delegation was headed by the Secretary-General of the League, Mr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, along with a number of deputies from Senegal and Mauritania, and a female parliamentarian from the Moroccan House of Representatives.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the League, Mohammad Makram Balawi, emphasized that the Palestinian issue is currently at a critical stage that requires active parliamentary action on the international scene, especially in light of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the intensification of Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

He added that the silence of the international community and the complicity of some governments should not deter free parliaments from fulfilling their moral and legal duty to defend the rights of occupied peoples, foremost among them the Palestinian people.

The Secretary-General noted that this visit comes within the framework of the League's efforts to build broad parliamentary coordination networks that support the steadfastness of the Palestinians, confront Judaization and settlement projects, and seek to hold the occupation accountable through international law instruments.

For his part, the head of the thematic group on the Palestinian issue, Dr. Allal Amroui, affirmed that the Palestinian issue enjoys a special place with the Moroccan people and its leadership, pointing to the high royal care given by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to defend Palestinian rights at various levels, foremost of which is the protection of the identity of Jerusalem and its holy sites.

A number of Moroccan deputies from various political spectrums also participated in the meeting, including Mr. Mohammad Al-Hafiz, Ms. Malika Lahiane, Mr. Rachid Adnane, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Alem, where they expressed their firm support for the Palestinian people and their readiness to strengthen cooperation with the League in order to develop mechanisms for joint parliamentary action.
