Press Release

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and calls for lifting the blockade, reconstruction, and holding the occupation accountable

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine welcome the announcement of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the ceasefire must be accompanied by practical steps to ensure the protection of civilians, the restoration of dignity and rights, and preventing the Israeli occupation from resuming the war.

The League calls for the complete and permanent lifting of the blockade imposed on Gaza, ensuring the entry of humanitarian, medical, and food aid without obstacles or political conditions, launching a comprehensive reconstruction program with the cooperation of countries and international organizations, focusing on rebuilding infrastructure, housing, electricity, water, health facilities, and education, and supporting the resilience of the people of Gaza through activating temporary economic and developmental programs to help the population withstand the aggression.

The League emphasizes the necessity of granting the Palestinian people their full national rights, including the right to self-determination, the establishment of their independent state, and holding the legal occupation accountable before the competent international courts, and holding its leaders responsible for war crimes and genocide committed against civilians since the beginning of the aggression.

This agreement is an important first step, but it must be the beginning of a real transformation in international paths, so that Gaza does not remain a hostage to war and a bargaining tool, but a field for justice and humanity.

The League reaffirms that the Palestinian people, who have endured years of bombing, blockade, and famine, deserve freedom, independence, dignity, and the realization of their legitimate rights guaranteed by international laws.
