April 27, 2026League Praises Stance of Hungary’s Prime Minister-Elect in Support of the International Criminal Court
The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine congratulated the leader of the "Respect and Freedom" (TISZA) party in Hungary on the occasion of his victory in the general elections and for winning the confidence of the voters, wishing him success in leading his country toward further progress and stability.
In an official letter, the League expressed its appreciation for the stance announced by the Hungarian leader regarding halting his country's withdrawal proceedings from the International Criminal Court (ICC). It emphasized the importance of his commitment to respecting the Court’s decisions and enforcing its arrest warrants, particularly those issued against individuals accused of committing war crimes, led by the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government.
The League affirmed that this position reflects a clear commitment to the rules of international law and the Rome Statute, representing a significant step in strengthening the international justice system in light of the grave violations witnessed globally, foremost among them the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
It noted that the declaration by Hungary’s new political leadership comes at a highly sensitive time, amidst the ongoing war of genocide and escalating violations. The League considered this direction a boost to international efforts aimed at holding those responsible for serious crimes accountable and putting an end to policies of impunity.
Furthermore, the League expressed its hope that this stance would serve as a model to be followed at the European and international levels, prompting more countries to adopt policies that support international justice, thereby contributing to the protection of the rights of nations and the accountability of perpetrators.
The League concluded its message by renewing its congratulations, affirming its aspiration for Hungary to play an active role in supporting the causes of international justice and enhancing respect for international law, including supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and ending the occupation.
