Algerian Parliament Holds "Wounded Gaza" Forum in Support of the Palestinian Cause

On Monday, the parliamentary groups of both chambers of the Algerian Parliament—the Council of the Nation and the People’s National Assembly—organized a solidarity forum titled "Wounded Gaza," with the participation of parliamentary group leaders, members, and heads of political parties and organizations.

The forum was held as a joint initiative between the two chambers to convene an emergency general session, amid the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and continued violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, met with international silence and the complacency of some governments.

The aim of the forum was to coordinate the efforts of Algerian parliamentarians to further support and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and to amplify the voice of their just cause in regional and international parliamentary arenas.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Saïd Arrous, President of the Council of the Nation Salah Goudjil expressed pride in the Algerian parliamentarians’ unwavering support for Palestine. He noted, “The words of parliamentarians may not be binding, but they preserve the truth from getting lost amidst false media narratives. Parliamentarians shine a light on facts and call things by their real names.”

Goudjil went on to express “deep disappointment at the cowardly responses still coming from an international community that chooses impotence, weakness, and disgrace—betraying its humanitarian commitments and international laws day after day. Its balance falters, leaning toward self-interest and double standards.”

Participants in the forum reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast stance—both government and people—in support of the Palestinian struggle. They called for an immediate and unconditional end to the genocide, the urgent opening of humanitarian corridors into Gaza, and ensuring accountability for Israel’s crimes against civilians.
