April 30, 2025Algerian Senate President: International Response to Gaza Genocide Is Cowardly
Algerian Senate President Salah Goudjil has condemned what he described as the "cowardly reactions" of the international community to the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Saïd Arrous during a solidarity conference for Gaza, Goudjil emphasized that the world is witnessing a blatant moral and legal collapse. He stated, “There is deep regret over the positions taken thus far by an international community that has chosen impotence, weakness, and humiliation—betraying, day after day, its humanitarian pledges and international laws. It teeters off balance, swayed by interests and double standards.”
Goudjil also expressed pride in the unwavering support shown by Algerian parliamentarians for the Palestinian cause, describing their voices as a true echo of justice and the rights of oppressed peoples.
“The words of parliamentarians may not be binding,” he said, “but they preserve the truth from getting lost amid false media narratives. Parliamentarians shed light on the facts and call things by their real names.”
The Senate President called on parliaments around the world to harness their legislative and oversight powers and to direct their tools of parliamentary diplomacy toward pressuring governments to take honorable stands in support of the Palestinian people and their rights—chief among them, ending the Israeli occupation and restoring both land and dignity.
