European Lawmakers Protest Outside European Parliament Against Genocide in Gaza

Several Members of the European Parliament and activists held a protest on Wednesday outside the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, denouncing the ongoing genocide being committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Participants in the demonstration lay motionless on the ground in a symbolic scene meant to represent the suffering and pain of the victims of Israel’s assault on Gaza. They held signs reading “Stop the Genocide,” wore red keffiyehs symbolizing blood, and chanted slogans urging Europe to take effective action to stop the aggression.

French MEP Manon Aubry stated that the message behind the protest is that “the time for words has passed; immediate action is now required.”

She added, “We can no longer tolerate the European Union’s silence, which is limited to statements without taking concrete steps to end the massacres in Gaza,” pointing out that the EU has issued dozens of resolutions and sanctions regarding the war in Ukraine, yet remains silent in the face of the ongoing Israeli crimes in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel—with U.S. and Western support—has been carrying out a continuous genocide in the Gaza Strip.
