Palestinian MP Al-Natsha’s Health Deteriorates Due to Torture in Israeli Prisons

The health of Mohammad Jamal Al-Natsha, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council from Hebron in the southern West Bank, has seriously deteriorated as a result of torture in Israeli detention. The Israeli prison authorities have refused to allow his lawyer to visit him, claiming that he has been transferred to another hospital.

According to prisoner advocacy organizations, days after his arrest, Al-Natsha was moved from Ofer Prison to Hadassah Hospital in critical condition following a violent assault during interrogation. The assault reportedly caused a brain hemorrhage, kidney failure, and a full coma. He was later transferred to the Ramla Prison Hospital, where he remains in a state of shock, reflecting the extent of the torture he endured, according to the Prisoners’ Media Office.

Family sources confirm that Al-Natsha was in good health before his arrest and had no prior medical conditions, clearly indicating that his current state is a direct result of torture during interrogation—a slow and deliberate attempt on his life.

Human rights and international organizations, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross, are being urged to intervene immediately to assess his medical condition, allow legal access, ensure appropriate medical care, and work urgently to save his life before it is too late.

Al-Natsha has been detained several times, spending a total of 23 years in Israeli prisons, most of it under administrative detention without charge or trial.

His case reflects the plight of hundreds of detainees who have endured harsh interrogations, torture, and prolonged denial of legal access in attempts to extract forced confessions, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society.
