League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine Warns Against Any Targeting of the Global Sumud Flotilla and Calls for the Protection of Participating Parliamentarians

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine highly values the continued voyage of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which has been sailing for several days toward Gaza on a historic mission aimed at breaking the unjust blockade imposed on the Palestinian people for nearly two decades. The League affirms that the flotilla’s imminent arrival to the shores of Gaza represents a pivotal moment and a global message of solidarity with the people of Gaza, who are enduring a suffocating blockade and unprecedented genocide.

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine considers the participation of several parliamentarians, including active members of the League, as a practical expression of their political and humanitarian duty in defending the Palestinian cause. However, the bloody record of the occupation in attacking previous flotillas and humanitarian convoys raises grave concerns that this flotilla may face a similar assault, unless there is clear deterrence from governments and international institutions.

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine warns of the grave consequences of any attack on the flotilla or attempt to obstruct it, stressing that it will not remain silent should the parliamentarians or any of the participants be placed in danger.

The League holds the international community fully responsible for their safety, and calls upon all parliamentarians, parliaments worldwide, and speakers of parliaments to take urgent political and diplomatic action to provide immediate protection for these MPs before it is too late.
