Press Release

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine condemns the Israeli attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla ships in international waters and call for urgent international action

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine strongly condemns the aggression carried out by the Israeli occupation navy against the Global Sumud Fleet heading to Gaza, which took place in the open sea and in international waters, in a blatant violation of international law and maritime navigation rules, and a deliberate targeting of peaceful humanitarian efforts aimed at breaking the illegal blockade imposed on the strip.

The League affirms that the attack on civilian ships carrying parliamentarians, human rights activists, and politicians constitutes a complete aggressive crime, adding to the long record of the occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people and their supporters worldwide.

This attack exposes the reality of the occupation as a "rogue state" that flouts international law and acts as if it is above accountability and punishment, with direct support from the United States and its allies.

The League, while expressing its full solidarity with the participants in the Resilience Fleet, emphasizes that the blockade imposed on Gaza is a genocidal crime and one of the tools of the extermination war faced by more than two million people through bombing, starvation, and systematic blockade.

The League calls on the international community, the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and world parliaments to condemn this serious attack on freedom of navigation and humanitarian work, and to urgently use their oversight and legislative tools to pressure their governments to stop collusion with the occupation, and impose political and economic sanctions on it.

The League demands the immediate release of detainees, including members of the League's executive committee, Brazilian Federal Deputy Luizianne Lins, founding member of the League Abdel Razzaq Al-Maqri, and parliamentarian Zwelivelile Mandela, enabling them to reach their destination, and taking practical steps to lift the blockade on Gaza, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid without obstacles, and stop the genocide war.
