Press Release

League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds Congratulates Newly Elected Members of the U.S. Congress, Calls on Them to Uphold International Law and End Funding of Genocide

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine extends its general congratulations to the newly elected members and lawmakers who earned the trust of their constituents in the U.S. elections, wishing them success in fulfilling their political and legislative duties in service of justice and human rights.

The League emphasizes the importance of new lawmakers placing respect for international law and international obligations at the heart of their legislative agenda. It calls on them to exercise their oversight and constitutional roles to ensure the U.S. administration adheres to its humanitarian commitments, moving away from double standards and selective policies.

The League urges the newly elected representatives to act decisively and take immediate steps within decision-making corridors to stop the use of taxpayer funds to arm and finance the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, and to reject providing any political or military cover for the Israeli occupation’s continuous violations of international legitimacy.

The League renews its call for the new legislators to serve as a voice for justice, align with truth and fairness, and support the Palestinian people's efforts to realize their full legitimate rights—chief among them the right to self-determination and an end to the occupation—in alignment with the principles of international law and human rights.
