November 29, 2025The Secretary-General of the League meets with MP Basem Al-Rawabdeh to discuss parliamentary support for Palestine
The Secretary-General of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, met with the Jordanian Member of Parliament, Basem Al-Rawabdeh, to discuss ways to enhance joint parliamentary work in support of the Palestinian cause, and to develop mechanisms for coordination between the League and the Jordanian Parliament in this critical stage for Palestine.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Balawi appreciated the historical and pivotal role played by Jordan, as a leadership, parliament, and people, in defending Jerusalem and the Islamic sanctities, including the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people against occupation and its criminal policies.
He emphasized that the Jordanian Parliament has been and continues to be one of the prominent supporters of the League's political and parliamentary activism at regional and international levels, stressing the importance of building on this role in light of the dangerous developments in Palestinian territories, whether in Gaza facing a war of extermination and a suffocating siege, or in the West Bank experiencing ethnic cleansing operations and an unprecedented escalation of settler violence.
On his part, MP Basem Al-Rawabdeh expressed his appreciation for the League's efforts in unifying parliamentary work supportive of Palestine worldwide, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause is Jordan's top priority, and that the Jordanian Parliament will continue its role in raising its voice within international and parliamentary institutions to defend the Palestinian people and their steadfast rights.
Al-Rawabdeh confirmed that the Jordanian Parliament is open to all forms of cooperation with the League on issues related to expanding international pressure to stop the war on Gaza, holding the occupation leaders accountable for their crimes, and exposing Israel's policies in international parliamentary forums.
The two parties discussed several joint initiatives, including activating the Arab parliamentary cooperation led by the League, expanding the participation of Jordanian MPs in it, and enhancing coordination in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and regional bodies to support the Palestinian position and reject annexation and displacement projects.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Balawi reiterated that the League continues its parliamentary movement at various levels to immediately stop the occupation's attacks and lift the siege on Gaza, and to confront the occupation's schemes in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
