Syed Ibrahim: "New York Declaration" conflicts with Malaysia's foreign policy towards Palestine
Member of the Executive Committee of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine and head of the Palestinian bloc in the Malaysian Parliament, Hon Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, affirmed that the recent "New York Declaration" clearly contradicts Malaysia's consistent foreign policy towards the Palestinian issue, praising the Malaysian Foreign Minister's stance in clarifying his country's rejection of many conditions stated in the declaration.
Syed Ibrahim stated in a press release that any political solution must be fair and comprehensive, based on international law, holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its violations, ensuring the right of return for Palestinian refugees and their right to self-determination, as well as facilitating full and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid.
He added that any declaration that implicitly legitimizes the Israeli occupation or denies the established rights of the Palestinian people must be rejected in its entirety, emphasizing that Malaysia will continue to work with its regional and international partners through platforms such as ASEAN, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations, to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, pressure the occupation to end the genocide, ensure the free entry of humanitarian aid, and hold war criminals accountable before the International Criminal Court.
Syed Ibrahim concluded by reaffirming Malaysia's steadfast position, saying: "Malaysia’s position must remain firm — standing for truth, justice, and humanity. There can be no peace without justice, and no justice without true freedom for Palestine."
